Hi All

Thought this might be useful to anyone who is planning.

I had a version I put together in a hurry and loved it, but having had the experience of using it, decided I would do the design justice by making a proper version, I have just finished it, so here are some pics.

Paul once again, thank you for sharing this design.

Russell, nice looking jig sir. Next time you do some necks and bodies, how about some action shots for everyone? I'd like that.

Looks good Russell. Do you cut the proper angle on the neck heel before you clamp the neck into your jig?

First of all I should emphaise that the concept for the jig is Paul Woolsons and he as I understand it adapted in from a design by Charles Fox.

The neck is square when the little studs sit in the truss rod slot to align the neck to the center, you then put the body against the straight edge which is sticking up and adjust the black nob below until you have the desired clearance at the Saddle position, the silver wing nut above it locks everthing in place. Then you route using a guide bush and thats it you have you neck angle cut for you to the correct angle, I use a downcut spiral and the neck cut is clean and fits exactly, just a tiny touch with fine paper to refine the fit.

That sounds much too easy. Let us know how this works out after a couple neck sets Russell. I'm really excited about the prospects. Sure would be nice to shave a few hours off of setting a guitar neck. All EARS and EYES. bd

Bruce I've been using a version of the jig formonths it works well, as I understand it Paul and Brock both use this jig all the time too and probably several others.

It is incrediably easy and a great time saver.

Okay, I think I finally get it.

The aluminum shaft is attached to the base which is vertical. That vertical base is adjusted to the guitar body, which is sitting in position on the top of the unit.

Adjustments are made until it fits the body. Then, the neck blank is inserted in the holder and routed to whatever adjustment was necessary to fit the body. Pretty clever. Why didn't I think of this?

This type of creative ability comes from trying to solve a great problem. Wow, Let's see, for me this info is fourth generation. Thanks Russell for the post. But it wasn't until I saw Craig's pictures on his website that I understood the jig. Pretty clever. Thanks Don A. and Craig H. Sometimes it's just good to understand, again hat's off to the Fox!
